To analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, under limited direction, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on highly complex assignments ensuring a high-level service to customers
Proactive Account Management - Seek renewal and identify new business opportunities while managing a qualified list of prospects. Serve as the primary contact for assigned accounts, ensuring strong engagement and relationship management
Conduct detailed opportunity assessments with key brokers to identify growth opportunities. Qualify accounts to align with the Zurich’s risk appetite and business opportunities
Cross-Selling and Product Density - Increase product density by cross-selling other lines of business to existing accounts
Independently assess and price medium to high complexity risks, set and negotiate terms and conditions in accordance with underwriting guidelines. Provide expertise on coverage issues with claims programs and guidelines
Develop and maintain strong networks with wholesale and facultative reinsurance brokers and cedants. Engage with brokers, leading discussions and proactively seeking new business opportunities
Demonstrate strong business development skills to identify and pursue new business opportunities. Leverage established connections with wholesale/Fac RI brokers and cedants to drive business growth
Participate in Sales Team meetings and assist in managing a qualified list of opportunities and update required systems with details of broker/client visits and account status within specified time frames. Prepare necessary documentation and perform account servicing tasks. Serve as key contact for assigned target accounts
Assist in training and developing junior team members, supporting their growth and proficiency
Demonstrate strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, regulations, and guidelines
Exhibit superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating. Demonstrate strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively assess risk
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Required:
8 to 10 years of Experience in underwriting large and complex Property risks in the Asia market
Business Development skills and established connections with wholesale/ Fac RI brokers and cedants
Thorough understanding of the Asian wholesale broker network with good business planning skills
Strong negotiation skills with a high level of customer and commercial awareness in regard to terms & conditions and be able to successfully close deals
Able to prioritize accounts, work in a dynamic market meeting deadlines for quotes on new and renewal business
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good Team player
North Asia (incl Japan) commercial property underwriting experience, Japanese language proficiency is a plus (not compulsory)
