Our client, a leading international player in the consumer goods industry with modern offices in the Zurich area, is looking for an experienced Category Manager Packaging EMEA (a) to start latest in October in a temporary assignment till end of March 2025 with potential extension option. Hybrid working model.

Job Description

In this role, the incumbent will lead the development and implementation of the regional sourcing strategy. Scope: EMEA Skincare Packaging (plastic bottles, closures, tubes, jars). This will entail the following task area:

• Be responsible and manage a spend of nearly $90 Million and a supply base of around 40 suppliers with an Impact on Revenue of over $6 Billion.
• Lead the development and implementation of the Regional sourcing strategy to achieve short and long-term business goals
• Work collaboratively throughout the supply chain to drive cost, cash, quality and supply improvements through supplier management, harmonization and negotiations for assigned commodities; represent global supply chain requirements as part of the sourcing strategy
• Embed a superior customer-centric attitude within the team to deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Managing regional supply services and quality as contact for service resolution, analysis, and communication
• Partner with key internal business partners (i.e. commodity leads, Material Management, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to ensure aligned KPIs, reporting, and smooth delivery of procurement objectives
• Support the development and execution of resourcing and cross brand VA projects (regionalization, etc.)
• Utilize the tools, and processes to optimize sourcing, supplier activities and efficiencies. Work collaboratively with team members to prioritize and drive implementation
• Develop knowledge and map manufacturing capabilities to support service
• Build knowledge and provide regional operational feedback during supplier negotiations / selection. Synthesize and streamline analytics to support decision making
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of regional supply base, an understanding of industry best practices and technology trends and provide input to the team and business partners
• Communicate regional strategies, help drive continuous improvement and best practices across Commodities

The Successful Applicant

In order to be considered for the role, the selected candidate must have:

• Bachelor Degree or higher
• 3-5 years relevant work experience in in strategic sourcing, supplier management, performance and risk management
• Fact-based decision maker, pragmatic, resourceful, and proactive
• Excellent collaboration skills with different internal and external stakeholders and experience working in a large network
• Experience leading projects from end-to-end, including negotiation, continuous improvement, communication with stakeholders, risk & budget management
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent English required, strong communication and presentation skills
