As a Laboratory Specialist you will have technical responsibility for all provided services ensuring the methods and performance of chemical and physical as well as metallographic investigations are executed. You will be responsible for the Special Processes Adhesive Bonding, Sealing and Coating (organic/inorganic). Support lean continuous improvement with aiming for failure costs reduction, efficient and effective processes and procedures. Identify emerging risk areas within Engine Operation that are identified through hazard and incident reporting and taking appropriate steps to ensure these are addressed or brought to the attention of responsible management. Work across all parts of Engine Operation with an emphasis on collaboration that brings focus on safety outcomes and development of the safety management system. Ensures that the investigation of hazards and incidents is maintained in accordance with the standards detailed within the aviation safety management system manual. Maintain and enhance knowledge of investigation skills and investigative processes and procedures to identify gaps and define effective preventive measures. Providing appropriate subject matter expertise and advice on the required training and development of investigation team members. You will lead a team of experts that performs high level engine repairs at our premises but also abroad directly at our client’s facilities as a Field Assistance Service. Together with your team of subject matter professionals you will continue developing a brand-new style of MRO state of the art services that will ensure excellent turnaround times and quality. In this position you will report to the Vice President Engine Operations. Your tasks Manage the direct reports and QTL-matrix organization in alignment with the responsible line managers, ensure mandatory and necessary trainings Ensure optimum occupation time of the QTL FTE’s, e.g. in case of no QT work, allocate pro-actively resources to other departments (ESO, ESC, ESE, etc.) Take make or buy decision for the service requests, contract and coordinate accordingly with the service network partners. Our unwavering dedication to innovation, excellence and environmental responsibility propels us forward on our journey to becoming the leading, most customer-centric, and sustainable Engine focused MRO worldwide Your tasks Define standardized repair processes ensuring these meet applicable quality and compliance standards of the OEM, customers, internal processes and state of the art technologies Interpret production drawings and OEM procedures systematically, understanding the need for processes to meet established requirements Define and certify equivalent alternative consumable materials and/or processes related to thermal spray Conduct continuous improvement of processes under your responsibility using Safety, Lean, Quality and Engineering tools like Kaizen Events, SPC, FPY, OEE and Problem Solving Methods resulting in improved safety, quality, delivery and costs for our customers Provide coaching and training to operations colleagues as needed ensuring best in class programming and process principles Support root cause analysis and coordinate subsequent engineering related tasks for assigned fields Provide support for the industrialization projects according to plan (SQDCP) and define mitigations when necessary, support the industrialization of new repairs and renewal of existing repairs Collaborate closely with Operations, Repair Engineering, Tooling Engineering and/or Shop Engineering Your Profile Hands on experience operating and supporting thermal spray equipment and support equipment (Plasma, HVOF and Arc-Wire spray) Proven experience creating programs on 6-axis robot equipment (ABB, Kuka, FANUC etc.) Experience in Industrial Manufacturing, Aerospace MRO business Proactive, positive and flexible character with a strong execution mentality and the ability to work autonomously and within teams on complex tasks High safety, quality, delivery and cost awareness Experience in project management, lean and quality methodologies 10+ years experience in the areas of programming and thermal spray processes Fluent in English (Level C1), German (Level B1) is an advantage Scientific/Technical degree MSc or BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in similar industries We offer an attractive position in a global and dynamic company.
